Detachment 18's first mission at K-46 was briefing P-51 pilots for air to ground strikes.

Detachment 18 Forecasters and Observers all so provided support for C-46's and C-47's as well as various Army helicopters. The wounded were flown here from MASH units for evacuation to Tokyo.

As the fortunes of war shifted Detachment 18 remained mobile residing for a time at Osan and later finding a permanent home at Yongsan AI in Seoul in the 1954-1955 period.
