Where Are They Now?

Jeff Greene-- Det 18-- 1975-1976

I retired from the Air Force in 1991 and currently work at Cannon AFB, MN. Yep I'm a double-dipper. Much too many people's surprise, I made Msgt and was a 1st Sergeant when I retired.

Brent L. Rudin-- Det18-- 1976- 1979

After three years at Det 18 I spent a few months at Norton AFB and then departed from the Air Force. After a few detours along the way I ended up back to work for the government in the air pollution field. For  the last decade I have worked as an air pollution law enforcement official for an agency based in San Francisco. In addition to my enforcement duties I help oversee the agencies field computer program. I dabble in web sites and computer art when time permits. My wife Donna and I are raising four children with the oldest in collage and the youngest in third grade. We have a number of web sites covering a variety of topics in addition to this site.  The "home" index is at http://novasonoma.itgo.com/

Dave Seibert: 3 tours at Det 18, 30 WS. 1978-79, 1982-85 and 1987-1990

Has anyone else done 3 tours at Det 18 30 WS? I think I am the only one, anyway I would be interested to know if anyone else was there 3 times. I am now a long range forecaster with Strategic Weather Services

Dave_Seibert@StrategicWeather.Com

I live in Palm Springs CA< and in Phoenix AZ, hopefully it will be totally in Palm Springs in a few months. I have a small web site at http://www.ionet.net/~soju/ It is slow in the process and even slower since I can't work on it while in Palm Springs. Well most of my stories are not the kind I really want to have for public viewing. If you don't know me lets me in Korea for a beer and make some new stories that I won't want to put on the web!

John Hahn: Det 18 1978-79,I

I arrived at Camp Casey in May of 1978 directly from AF Global Weather

Center. It was quite a culture shock for a young SSgt!! In fact when I was

notified of the assignment, the clerk at CBPO told me it must be a mistake

because it said "something goofy about a CP Casey".

I thought we were filming an episode of MASH when I got there. Army SSgt

Hugh Lidell picked me up in an open jeep in the pouring rain. I was further

amused by processing into the HHC (Headquarters, Headquarters Company) and

being issued my roll of toilet paper and told to bring back the empty tube

when I needed a replacement. I was then scheduled for my details of: Bus

Patrol, Town Patrol, and Music Patrol where you went from club to club in

the ville to ensure the clubs were not catering to one type of person by the

music played (i.e. blacks with soul, rednecks with country etc.) I then was

shown to my room in the "super hooch". I had 2,and at times 3, Army SSgt

roomates in a small room with no A/C. gang latrines, and the only lock a

padlock on the outside of the door.

After my year there with many memorable events, I went to the Base Weather

Station at Offutt. I stayed there until August of 1983 and left as a MSgt

to be the Station Chief at Columbus AFB MS. I remained there for about 2

years with a line number for SMSgt before being picked to go on the MAC IG

team at Scott AFB IL.

I spent 2 years on the IG team inspecting many weather units around the

world. After leaving the IG team I moved to Air Weather Service HQ to work

in the Acquistion Directorate where I worked on programs such as HFRB, QRCT,

TMQ-34, GNQ-33, FMQ8, FMQ-13, and others.

After being selected for CMSgt, I was chosen to be the Detachment Chief at

Det 17, 20WS at Yokota AB, Japan. After the major changes brought on by the

"divestiture", I moved to 5th Weather Sq (which later became 1st Wea Group)

at Ft Mcpherson GA.

I was at Ft McPherson from Oct 1991 until June 1994 when I returned to Korea

to be the Assistant Director of Operations for the 5th Weather Squadron at

Yongsan. The Sq was later renamed the 607th Weather Squadron.

I arrived at Yongsan on a Wednesday and 3 days later the death of Kim Il

Sung was announced.

After my year at Yongsan I went to Hq Air Education and Training Command at

Randolph AFB, TX. I retired effective 1 April 1998 and now work with

Strategic Weather Services in Wayne PA.
